Maybe Apple Notes app embarrassment is unnecessary now

Just found pronotes.app “an Apple Notes extension that makes your favourite note-taking app even more enjoyable to use.”

And I’ve seen a few folk elsewhere recommending Notes (and Reminders) and saying how they use it now.

I’ve been using Notes for years now after feeling too let down by 3rd party apps that are lovely, but that I end up feeling gullible for using. They either just stop being developed or move to a subscription model that I don’t feel I can justify.

I feel bad that this essentially means I’m not willing to support indi devs, but the monetary and switching costs sadly don’t add up. Free, built in, cloud syncing and highly unlikely to be sunsetted, Notes and Reminders are just the most simple and sensible options.

Saying that, I’m hoping the plugin idea of ProNotes doesn’t go the same way as other 3rd party apps seeing as it’s built in to Notes.

Further more, I’m not saying Notes and Reminders are brilliant apps. Both have massive and odd UX foibles for me, but still not enough to opt for another subscription to avoid.
